Medusas Coil Revisited
Artists Description

‘She was nude except for that hideous web of hair spun around her and was half-seated, half-reclining on a sort of bench or divan, carved in patterns unlike those of any known decorative tradition….....Whether those hellish Cyclopean vaultings are seen from the outside or the inside, or whether they are indeed carven stone and not merely a morbid fungous arborescence’

An interpretation of the painting described in the little known story ‘Medusa’s Coil’ by H P Lovecraft and Zealia B Reed.

Other inspirations include H R Giger, M C Escher and the Wamphyri of Brian Lumley’s ‘Necroscope’ series

After some consideration I thought that the original painting needed some more work, so here is the ‘revisted’ version.
