As you know, I like to doodle faces…usually old men for some reason!! :-D

Here, I have prepared a textured ground with quality artist products and while wet, scratch in the my doodles of many men, each one is different, each one showing many a line…they ooze character when seen up close.

After this process has dried, I then experiment with my mixed media, watching the inks, oils and acrylics bleeding between the lines I’ve created; knocking back again and again.

I keep doing this until I am satisfied with the colour combination to suit the subject matter and then I use water colour crayons to pick out certain areas to highlight the eyes, chins, noses, creases, etc.

I have used quality artist’s varnish to seal and protect the work and painted on all four sides. This piece is ready to hang.
