Craig Longmuir
My paintings have evolved to become studies of Sheffield city in natural evening light and electric light. I am inspired by the elevated views that come from the seven hills that Sheffield is built upon, with interesting angles and surprising aspects of architecture. The deep colours and bright lights which occur in the early evening are particularly inspiring.
I have exhibited regularly in exhibitions including the South Yorkshire Open Art Exhibition in the Cooper Gallery, Barnsley, where I won first prize for painting in 1996 and 1998. I was also the SAA Amateur Artist of the Year in 2006. I have been awarded two runner up prizes for paintings in the Rotherham Open Art Exhibition 2008 and 2009. I have also exhibited and sold paintings in The Great Sheffield Art Show since 2007.
