SUSAN SHAW

watercolour painting using experimental techniques to create light and texture
171 works from £35 to £160

in painting mixed media

Hello, I have been painting for six years, self taught. It began as a hobby ready for my retirement May 2007, but it took over my life, now I can’t stop!
I have now developed my style with “experimental techniques” which include masking, pouring, spattering, salt, and stippling. Also mainly keeping to three cool and three warm primary colours to unify the work.
My first solo exhibition was at the Lytham Heritage Centre in May 2007
Some work is on display for sale at Garstang Fine Arts, Church St.Garstang

  • Hi Susan, just want to thank you so so much for my birthday picture that my boyfriend bought from you. (Sunset moorings).
Best birthday present I’ve ever had! Absolutely stunning. I can’t stop myself from staring at it. I just get lost in the atmospheric golden sunset the scene is drenched in. I have to embarrassingly admit I shed a few tears of joy when I opened it. Can’t thank you enough. You’re work is incredible. Elisabel

    Dear Susan,

Just a short note to say the paintings turned up safely yesterday and they are quite beautiful, just as expected, thank you.
I now see and understand what you mean by ” texture effect” on the woodland scene and agree the result is amazingly
    atmospheric.

I am very pleased too with New York, it captures the mood perfectly and as a frequent visitor I appreciate what it represents,
by the way the mounts are perfect.

    Tom Acheson.

I love the picture it is just what I was looking for and I am very pleased
with it! It looks even better than it did in the photograph online - the
neutral mounting looks great too. I am going to take it to get framed during
the week and so hopefully it will be on my wall very soon! Liz

    Hi Susan
We got the painting today, and when I came home tonight and opened it I was
THRILLED TO BITS! It’s beautiful, and I love it! I will so enjoy having it to
look at every day, and I hope you enjoy thinking that somewhere in the great
Pacific Northwest is a couple of Brits (well, one Brit and one honorary one)
who will look at a painting you made and remember the best parts of England!

    Best regards,
    Linda
    Hi Susan

Just to let you know that I received “On Golden Pond” today and it is absolutely gorgeous (and a perfect fit/match for our frame). It is already hanging and we are really delighted with it - thank you so much!

Have a wonderful Xmas and New Year!

Just to let you know that the painting arrived safe and sound earlier today. It is truly a lovely scene and looks even better now I have seen the real painting.

Many thanks and have a wonderful Christmas. (Bunnies in Bluebell Wood)

“All arrived safely today - thanks for the careful packing. [‘The Colour of Snow’, ‘Jewelled Colours of Autumn’ and ‘Wordsworth’s Daffodils’ by Susan Shaw] They look great! I especially like the snow one - it is going to be hung against a purple wall (looks better than it sounds) and the colours of the snow are just perfect against that backdrop. As a born and bred Cumbrian, living away from the area for 20 years it’s lovely to have these pictures as a reminder of ‘home’. I’m really delighted with them - thank you very much!”

    extracts from an email:
“I am absolutely enthralled by your watercolours. I’ve been a professional graphic designer for over fifty years and I am not an easy critic to please. I am retired now and enjoy looking at art sites on the internet. 99.9999% of it is rubbish and should be thrown in the bin, than I come accross your works and a breath of fresh air cleans the pollution out of my mind)........ (You have a rare gift).......from Central America, just wanted to let you know that your work does and can effect others. Mis saludos, Pedro de la Montana, San Antonio de Escazu, Costa Rica 30/5/07
